ABOUT the WALKING FOOD EXCHANGE

We'll begin with the West Kuiaha neighborhood and there might be other neighborhoods joining in!  If you and your neighbors are not near Kuiaha and would like to begin a new neighborhood posting, let me know!

This blog will hopefully allow neighbors to get to know each other and develop the sense of community we need.  Even in times of crisis we will know our neighbors and be able to help and be helped.
Share your abundance and/or barter. Learn which neighbor grows what and grow enough of your own to be able to share and/or barter your abundance with your neighbors.
Let's keep this all within walking distance to begin with.
Let's combine trips that require driving and be willing to run errands for each other.
Let's talk to one another and smile into each other's eyes.
Let's exchange our food along with Aloha.

"Sustainability is often taken to mean preparation by an individual to assure his/her survival in a worse case scenario of say, a collapse of the infrastructure. This thinking leaves out the most important factor in sustainability - each other.  Sustainability must include all of us, if it is to succeed."    ~ Neil Vonhof

See www.mauifoodweb.org for information about how to begin your own garden if you don't have one and get answers about what you'd like to grow.  They also show information regarding our local Farmer's Markets, upcoming workshops and lots more.
